A third generation Hokie, Jes Curtin is originally from Staunton, VA. She studied Human Development and Psychology at Virginia Tech and after serving in AmeriCorps, Jes became passionate for child welfare. Throughout her career as a social worker, she has supported strengthening families and communities through trauma-informed care and advocacy - whether it was by connecting expectant mothers with local services or establishing sustainable partnerships with community agencies.

After nearly ten years in the social work field, Jes became a stay at home mom to Maggie and Declan… and discovered her love of baking! She enjoys exercising and going to local music venues to see her husband play drums with his band.

Jes first became involved with Huddle Up Moms after receiving a precancerous diagnosis at her postpartum exam, when her son was a newborn. The HUM community was incredibly supportive of Jes and helped her use her voice and passion to spread awareness for routine and preventative care and women’s health. The weight of raising tiny humans during a pandemic has been exhausting, and HUM has helped Jes become energized, passionate, and connected with her mom tribe.

Fun fact: Jes can play seven instruments and runs on Dunkin.

"Since becoming a stay-at-home mom, I've been longing for connection and feeling a calling to make an impact in our community. HUM allows me to thrive with various projects *and* make some amazing friends along the way!""
