Maternal Health Educational Series

Huddle Up Moms is excited to host a series of maternal health classes throughout 2026, led by trusted local experts and designed to support families through every stage of pregnancy and parenthood. These interactive, small-group sessions will cover a variety of maternal and child health topics, offering practical tools, trusted guidance, and meaningful connection.

With classes open to the public and select sessions offered at no cost to community partners, this series is all about expanding access, building knowledge, and strengthening our village. Each class aims to create a welcoming, engaging space where questions are encouraged and support is shared.

Newborn Held Gently

Navigating Perinatal Care & Prepping for Postpartum

The early days of parenthood can feel like navigating unfamiliar waters. We’re here to give you a compass. This empowerment-focused session teaches you how to make informed decisions under pressure and stay calm when things feel rushed. From 'plain language' consent to documenting your journey, you’ll leave feeling prepared, protected, and ready for what’s next.

Gather & Grow: Taming Your Inner Critic

June 20th, 2026
10 - 11am

Identify the ways your inner critic shows up to fuel mom-guilt and perfectionism. We will share tools to silence that harsh internal voice and replace it with a more compassionate, realistic way of viewing yourself.Facilitated by Hannah Borny, NBC-HWC.

Gather & Grow: Internal & External Boundaries for Better Connections

Learn how to set healthy limits with the people in your life (and just as importantly) with your own personal habits. We will discuss protecting your energy from outside demands while practicing better self-discipline with internal distractions like social media. Facilitated by Hannah Borny, NBC-HWC.

This class will also feature a 30 minute demo of the YMCA Stroller Fit class from Kirk Family YMCA instructors!

Childbirth Education & Decision Points

June 20th, 2026
1 - 3pm

Join Chantel Spinner, perinatal health advocate, full-spectrum doula, and owner of The Melanin Fluent Doula, for a clear, practical overview of how labor typically unfolds and what to expect in common birth settings. Participants learn the stages of labor, how “progress” is assessed, and how to understand common interventions so they can feel informed and prepared when decisions come up.

Breastfeeding is a beautiful journey, but you don't have to navigate it alone. We’re here to help you get off to a strong start! This workshop equips you with everything you need to know to feel calm, capable, and ready to bond with your newest addition. Session is taught by Erin VandeLinde is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, IBCLC, and the owner of The Breastfeeding Center of Roanoke.

Coming Home to Your Body: A Somatic Reset for Moms

Motherhood asks so much of you. Your Time, your energy, your attention. In the midst of carding for everyone else, it's easy to lose connection with your body, your breath and your sense of ease. This 90-minute experience guided by The Grandin Wellness practitioner, Martha Kastler, is an invitation to come back home to yourself. Through accessible gentle somatic movement and Havening touch, you'll be supported in settling your nervous system, releasing accumulated stress and reconnecting with your body in a safe, nurturing and empowering way.
