Director of Grants
I am a physician assistant in the Emergency Department and a mother of three who wanted to become more involved in my community. I discovered Huddle Up Moms after a close family friend lost everything—and HUM was there to help, no questions asked. As Director of Support, I oversee our diaper bank and support shop, helping ensure families have access to essential resources during times of need. I love this organization because it is led by a strong yet vulnerable group of women who share a deep commitment to building a more compassionate and connected community in Southwest Virginia.

I am a father of three and married to one of the other directors at Huddle Up Moms. After seeing her become more involved, I felt called to contribute my own strengths to the organization. As Director of Grants, I use my creative writing background to help write and secure grants that support HUM’s mission and expand our impact in the community.

Loran Gillespie
Education Coordinator
After having my first child, I quickly realized how vital it is for mothers to have dedicated support and connection with one another. When I moved to Roanoke I remember seeing an ad in the The Roanoker for Huddle Up Moms and I knew immediately that I wanted to connect and be involved in their mission. My journey began by attending Huddles, which inspired me to get more involved by volunteering at events like the Summit, volunteering in Support Shop, and eventually helping to coordinate some of their educational programming. Supporting and educating mothers is a true passion of mine, and I am so grateful to be part of the incredible work Huddle Up Moms does for our community.
